NamesPlease is operated by Crossroads Technologies LLC. We welcome questions, corrections, and feedback about the tool.
Email us at hello@namesplease.app and we will respond as soon as we can.
What we can help with
We read everything sent to the address above. A few things we are particularly glad to receive:
- A generator producing bad output. If a name generator is returning results that are malformed, repetitive, offensive, or simply wrong for the tradition it claims to draw on, tell us which generator and paste a few examples. Output problems are usually a fault in the name bank behind the tool, and they are fixable once we can see them.
- A factual correction in a guide. Our articles make specific claims about naming systems, languages, and history. If we have got something wrong, we would rather know. Tell us which article and what the correct position is, and a source if you have one to hand.
- A cultural or linguistic issue. If a generator or guide misrepresents a naming tradition you know well, that is the most valuable message we receive, and we will act on it.
- A tool that is broken. Blank results, a page that will not load, or anything that behaves differently on your device. Mention your browser if you can.
- A generator you wish existed. We add tools based on what people ask for.
How we handle corrections
When we correct a substantive error in an article, we change the text rather than quietly deleting the claim, and we update the page's modification date. If a correction changes the meaning of a passage rather than fixing a typo, we say so on the page. We would rather show that we got something wrong than pretend the earlier version never existed.
Response times
This is a small operation, not a support desk. We aim to reply to anything that needs a reply within a few working days. Reports of broken tools and reports of offensive generator output are the two categories we prioritise and usually act on faster than we reply.
Privacy of your message
Email you send us is used only to answer you and to fix what you reported. We do not add correspondents to a mailing list, and we do not pass your address to anyone else. Our full privacy policy covers how the site itself handles data, and our terms cover use of the generators and the names they produce.
